Thank you very much. Really the more censoring you do of pro-anorexia, or thinspiration websites, will only make the desire to see them be even greater, it's human psychology. Take a look at teen drinking, why in America is it a problem? Because make it a problem, it's forbidden, so the desire is greater to drink. You always want what you cant have.

I am doing a debate going against these website, saying they should be banned. But after looking at the above comments, I'm not so sure I can do it. At least I hope that opposition doesn't find this site and it's comments until after the debate. This site is incredibly influential.

This is BS. I am anorexic, and without it, I wouldn't be living the glorious life I do now. I am amazingly skinny and before, I couldn't even wear a tank-top without looking hideous. I am 5'0" and weigh 100lbs. That is my healthy weight, but before, I weighed 210lbs!!!! can you believe that? I look much better now, in a size 1, used to be in a size 18. Anorexicia is my life and I think it has done a hell of a good job making it something to live for.

Honestly Michelle, I was just reporting on the rise of these sites. I believe I have even made statements in many of my articles regarding Pro-Anorexia sites that they should NOT be banned. Everyone has the right to do as they wish, and it is their choice. The more you take away choices the more the "want" comes into play. So I would never be a proponent of banning any of these sites.

those sites aren't as bad as many make it out to be. it keeps people with the disorder from having to be alone which is the worst feeling anyone can feel. it provides a loving community for those who often lack any such thing. as for it being a lifestyle choice thats CRAZY!!!! there are easier ways of control and losing weight. why anyone would chose to be it is crazy. hell i know i did not choose it it just happened and if i wish i had had the choice because never in a lifetime would i have chosen it! the fear the paranoia always looking over your shoulder always having to hide losing friends worring about every little thing that enters your mouth the pain knawing at your insdies the forgetting what your old fave food tasted the fainting the excersizing till u cant its worse than being in hell. so its not a lifestyle choice because noone in their right or wrong mind would choose such a life. it is a dangerous disease so fight the disease talk bad about it like you do cancer but leave the sites alone because alot of people will hurt much more if people like you keep going against such sites and the sitesa end up banned. i have nothing against you but i think you should back off ok

I know from first impressions the sites look horrible. But if it wasn't for one of those sites I probably wouldn't be alive. Yes, I have an eating disorder and have found myself in one of those sites, interracting with others that understand me and my problems. Even though most people say it's a lifestyle... it's not. And the people who do say it's a lifestyle choice, most likely do not have anorexia, bulimia or EDNOS. The people who don't say it's a lifestyle choice, and actually say it's a disease and illness, would rather just eat and have the confidence of other girls. I wish I did.

But those sites offer support in other ways, not just eating tips, diets and thinspiration. I know because we help girls (and some guys) see that even though they mess up whatever plan they are working on (diet, exercise, fast....) there is always tomorrow and that they shouldn't beat themselves up over it. Also, there have been some posts where somebody wants to kill themselves because they don't feel worthy of living anymore, or they just feel so fucked up they can't do it. We help them see past that and they are wonderful, people.

When we get somebody (a wannarexic, or wannamiac) who thinks that it's all a fad diet we show them that it is not. It is a living hell, and there are three outcomes for that person. One, they can't really do it at all. Two, they get into it, for a while, and then maybe about a year later they go screw it and abandon. Or Three, they get so sucked into it that they develop an ED and it's irreversable.

When we get little girls coming on (12, 13 year old girls) and they say that they need tips on trying to hide their not eating habits from their parents, we try our best to convince them that they don't want this. That it's not something you want, because nobody would willingly starve themselves, unless your sick.

So people can keep writing about how bad these sites are, but without them I think there will be a lot more girls (guys) commiting suicide because there is not that other group of people who go through the same thing they are that are telling them to stay strong and look to the next day. That there could be more people developing EDs because there are not the people who go through the living hell everyday, telling them that they don't want it.

They can keep shutting the sites down, and we'll keep fighting back.
